This project was honored with a Gold Award at the Interior Awards 2024.

The sailing yacht Amelie was built at the Beneteau shipyard in 2023, model Oceanis 51.1. The yacht consists of five interior cabins and one cabin for the skipper.
The main requirement for the completion of the interior furnishing was the selection of materials that contribute to creating a light and warm space, with textures and finishes that reference residential design in soft tones. The aim was to create the feeling of “living” in an apartment at sea.

The central concept was to achieve a “powdery” appearance. To reinforce this approach, the decoration was treated in a unified way, removing all intermediate tones, resulting in light beige shades and white as the dominant colors, with some black contrasts. Another objective of the styling was to ensure functionality, safe use of the space, and the expression of the aesthetic of the new generation of leisure yachts, with all selected objects serving a practical function.

Initially, the seating upholstery was selected in leather with tones close to the light shades of oak, which is the main material used in the yacht’s finishes. The objects were then chosen to fit the dimensions of shelves, display units, and storage compartments, and are self-supporting. The furniture was selected for its stable, weighted base and low center of gravity, allowing it to remain securely in place, when possible, even when the yacht experiences heeling during navigation.

The decoration is based on white tones combined with a variety of textures and materials such as clay, glass, marble, metal, and polypropylene, as well as textiles like cotton and satin for bed linen and towels. Portable rechargeable lighting fixtures are also part of the design, contributing to the atmosphere and allowing flexibility in lighting levels across the main space, cabins, and deck.

The curved forms enhance the simplicity of the interior. The objects are integrated into the space without distracting from the overall atmosphere, while simultaneously serving functional needs. Tableware, glasses, and serving platters have a minimal design language, for presenting properly the meals, allowing the textures and colors of the food to stand out. Bathroom accessories were selected following the same design approach.
The methodology included research on comparable yachts and visits to industry exhibitions in order to understand spatial requirements, dimensions, and material applications within its category, which resembles residential design but differs significantly in its constraints and conditions. This was followed by research and selection of products from specialized suppliers, aiming to meet the needs of both the project and its users.
